Steal The Show Lobbies

Steal The Show is built for eight players. That number is not flavor text. It is the size of the jury and the length of the night. This page explains how public lobbies behave, why VIP servers are not a plan, and how to play with friends without inventing a private instance the platform does not offer.

What the platform tells us

Public API data in mid-August 2026 listed maxPlayers: 8 and createVipServersAllowed: false. The store copy still says desktop, mobile, and tablet. The experience is in open beta. Those four facts are the lobby rules until the official page changes.

No VIP means you cannot buy a locked eight for a birthday party. You join public servers like everyone else. Friends need a coordination habit, not a paid instance.

How an eight-seat room feels

In a thirty-player fashion server you can hide. Here you will perform. A half-full lobby still runs a real show; it just means fewer acts and a louder jury. If you join mid-round, watch the current performance. That is not wasted time. It is the cheapest rehearsal in the game.

Because everyone votes on everyone else, a silent seat is visible. How to Vote is part of lobby etiquette, not a side quest. If your friend group only stars each other, the randoms in the other four seats will notice and the room gets worse for the next song.

Playing with friends without VIP

1. Favorite the official experience so the group opens the same place ID.
2. Join from the same region and the same device class if you can. A phone-only friend should read Controls first.
3. Stack joins. One person enters, the others follow from the Roblox friends list or server browser as fast as the client allows.
4. If you land in different rooms, leave together and retry. Do not sit in two lobbies “saving seats” — there are no seats to save.
5. Agree on one S-tier plan before you queue: song shape, contrast, three lights. The performance checklist fits a voice call.

Mid-round joins and full rooms

A full eight means you wait or hop. Hopping is fine. Rage-hopping every time someone else is on stage is how you never learn the vote rhythm. Stay for one full rotation if the room is kind. Leave if the room is a meme fog fight and you came to practice. Common Mistakes covers the AFK-judge problem that makes rooms feel worse than they are.

If the server list looks empty, the experience can still be live. Roblox pages sometimes show “no running experiences” in a browser tab while the client has rooms. Use the Play button in the Roblox app, not a stale embed.

Devices in the same lobby

Desktop, phone, and tablet share the same eight seats. A particle storm that reads on a monitor can smear on a phone. Design for the weakest screen in the room if you want mobile stars. The stage effects tier is written with that in mind.

R15 morph is the avatar type the API reports. If a friend’s custom character looks wrong on stage, that can be beta avatar work, not a ban. Simplify and continue. Beta Status is the mindset page.

What lobbies are not

A good lobby contract

Say this in chat once: watch the full act, star the work, keep fog low, no executor jokes. Then play. A short contract beats a ten-minute argument after a clipped headset. The review is honest about polish. Your job in the seats is to be better than the bugs.

When the night ends, write one letter as a group — song, look, lights, or vote — and pick the matching guide. That is how an eight-player room becomes a practice group instead of a random queue. Public servers are the only servers. Treat them like a stage you share, because that is what they are.

If a friend cannot stay for a full rotation, let them judge one act and leave without guilt. A clean exit is better than an AFK star. Invite them back for the next weekly check on Weekly Notes. The show is still in beta. The eight seats are already the whole sport.
